私の創作活動には２つのテーマがあります。１つは、アニメの美術監督として腕を磨いてきたデジタルでの最先端技術と職人のアナログの手仕事を融合し、唯一無二の世界観を作ることです。もう１つは、アートの力で社会問題を解決すること。この作品では、大量消費社会へのアンチテーゼとして、廃棄される予定だった古民家の障子の木枠を使って、アート作品としてアップサイクルしています。私の作品が動物福祉の推進の一助になれば幸いです。
アーティストについて
Arashi M.（日本）
東京都出⾝、アニメーションのアートディレクターを経て、現代アーティストに転⾝しました。Arashiは、アートディレクターとして培った「時代の空気」を独特の⾊彩で表現する技術を制作に活かしています。彼がキャンバスに描くぼんやりとしたタッチは、記憶のあいまいさとぬくもりを表現しています。昭和時代に⽣まれたArashiは、昭和の少女たちの⽇常の⼩さな⼼の機微を描くことで、電⼦エンターテイメント、スマートフォン、SNSが存在しなかった単純な時代へと私達を誘います。彼の作品は観客にとってノスタルジックな旅であり、⼈間がそれほど距離を置いていなかった時代を思い起こさせるものです。

Artist’s Comment
My creative practice is centered around two themes. The first is to create a unique and one-of-a-kind visual world by combining cutting-edge digital technology, which I have honed through my work as an animation art director, with the craftsmanship and hands-on techniques of traditional analog work. The second is to address social issues through the power of art. In this work, I have upcycled the wooden frames of shoji screens from a traditional Japanese house that were destined to be discarded, transforming them into an artwork as an alternative to the culture of mass consumption. I hope that my work can contribute, even in a small way, to promoting animal welfare.
About the Artist
Arashi M. (Japan)
Arashi M. is a Japanese artist from Tokyo who worked as an art director for animation before becoming a contemporary artist. Working with a unique color palette he had cultivated as an art director, Arashi utilises a technique named “Air of the Times”. His soft touches of paint on the canvases embody the warmth and ambiguity of the memories he aims to express. Born in the Shōwa era, he hopes to draw viewers back to a simpler era when electronic entertainment, smartphones and social networks had yet to exist. His depictions of Shōwa girls’ everyday life take audiences on a nostalgic journey where they are reminded of a time when humans were not so distant.
